What is “Radiance”

Epics, fairy tales and ancient histories of different peoples can be read as different figurative languages of access to deep knowledge. Each people received its tools and instructions in a form appropriate to its land, language, memory, pain, climate, work and way of hearing the world.
Radiance / “Radiance” is a literary and philosophical artistic-research series about how ancient stories preserve figurative instructions for the world.
Finnish-Karelian and Kalevala material is the main northern spine of the cycle. We are trying to understand what human experience made these images necessary - and whether the art form can make this knowledge audible and understandable again.

This is not a retelling of a myth or decorative mythology. It is an attempt, through the novel, the scene, the thing, speech, silence and human choice, to return to the ancient image its labor power.

“Radiance” is not a retelling of mythology, not a fantasy universe and not a spiritual teaching. This is a literary and philosophical artistic-research cycle in which ancient images are considered as living forms of knowledge.
The project works with myth not as decoration, but as memory: with what helped a person understand the world, measure, work, word, fear, responsibility and connection with the living order of reality.
